April 2022: Easter 2022

This Easter weekend brought us to the NC coast with an art show for the start of Easter weekend. Since we were already on the coast, we spent Easter Sunday there too.

We originally planned to go to the 6am sunrise service on the beach at Holden, but then found out the neighboring island was holding a 9 am beach service. It was beautiful and it was packed. There were hundreds of people there.

We loved being able to celebrate Jesus in an Easter beach service outdoors in His creation!

Because it's extra fun to wear your fluffy Easter dress on the beach, we got a few Easter day pictures after the service finished.

After Easter lunch and the kids' Easter play, we opened Easter baskets (well, actually Easter umbrellas this year.)
We spent the afternoon on the beach and finished the day with an Easter egg hunt!

It was a beautiful Easter for our family filled with fun and special memories celebrating Jesus and His resurrection!

April 2022: Spring Shore Day

The birthday girl also requested a little beach time for her birthday. Thankfully, the weather cooperated for a warm day after her birthday so we could spend some time on the sand!

There was boogie boarding and sand castle building

There were walks on the beach and looking for shells

Our favorite find was an almost full bucket of fossilized "Mortonis" or fossilized echinoids. Basically, there was sand dredging to build up the beach about a half mile down from where we were so we were able to find tons of fossilized sea biscuits!
Such a great beach day!

April 2022: Happy 5th Birthday, Allie!

Our baby girl turned 5 this year! This sweet, spunky, full of personality girl keeps us on our toes!

The birthday girl deciding she wanted to go strawberry picking for her birthday on the way to the beach!

The berry best birthday!

We finished our berry picking with some fresh made strawberry ice cream! It was delicious!

We love that sweet ice cream loving girl! She requested a ice cream party so we had a ice dream and strawberry ice cream and an ice cream cake!

Happy Happy 5th Birthday, Allie Grace!

March 2022: Savannah in the Springtime

Late in March, we took a short photography trip to explore part of the Lowcountry that was new to us! We began just north of Charleston.  What an absolutely beautiful area!

We headed to Shem Creek for supper and we had some delicious seafood!
It was a bit rainy the next day but we dodged the rain and still had a walk on the beach. We even found a starfish!

Since the rainy weather cleared out overnight but left some clouds behind, we were treated to a gorgeous sunrise the next morning at Folly Beach!

The end goal of our trip was to spend some time exploring and photographing Savannah so after sunrise we began to make our way south. On the way, we stopped by one of our very favorite restaurants for lunch. Anytime we are within an hour of there, we try to plan a stop at Roxbury Mercantile!

We made it to the Savannah area in time for a little photography, check in at our state park campground and sunset on Tybee Island. After sunset, we had an amazing time at The Crab Shack on Tybee Island. This is not just a restaurant-it is a destination! The biggest surprise of all was the live alligators in holding pond just outside the front door. It's not every day that you eat supper and check on the alligators on your way out the door!

After a full day of travel, photography and good food, we were headed to bed. Our next day would begin early too and would be filled with all things Savannah!

We started at Bonaventure not long after sunrise when there was still soft morning light.

We headed back to our campground for lunch and a little campground time!

We had some of the largest, most beautiful trees around our campground at Skidaway Island State Park.
We headed to a beautiful nearby plant nursery to pick up a piece of Savannah.
We then headed into downtown Savannah to spend to afternoon. We spent some time to the different squares, walked along the Riverwalk, visited the Candy Kitchen and had some ice cream along the river and had our picture made with the Georgia Queen.

The budding photographer was setting up his tripod for the best image!
We finished the day in Forsyth Park at this beautiful fountain!

We had one last day in Savannah and we headed to the spot Brent had been most looking forward to photographing- Wormsloe
It was a beautiful morning for photography along the tree covered lane.

After we finished our time at Wormsloe, we headed back to our campground for lunch and doughtnuts and a quick hike in the state park before it was time to get back on the road.
The McGuirt Family, March 2022

We enjoyed our time in the Lowcountry and in and around Savannah! It was great to explore some new spots as a family!
